The drive for synergy between old students and how the link could be explored for the growth, developement of their Alma mater formed the crux of speeches at the maiden reunion of Ikpomaza Grammar School Old Students Association, Okpella. Edo State, held at Academic Ghuest House, Ikeja-Lagos on July 21st-23rd 2022.

Decision to organised the reunion after fifty two years “is spurs by the need to give back to an Alma matter that has molded us so much in life”. Says the Association’s President Roland Otaru Esqr.(SAN)

The president General noted that although the school has produced many magnanimous in the society today, it remains undeveloped and begging for much needs in terms of infrastructures.

Justifying reasons for the maiden reunion, further, an old students Hon Godwin Eshieshi disclosed need to address present challenges facing their Alma mater. These he says are decadence, decline, lost glories, delapidations and none infrastructure phenomenon.

On his part, the General Secretary (IGSOSA) Egnr. Greg Atsikidi disclosed that the choice of the reunion is further informed for the benefits of the students who may not be enjoying government’s benefits at providing amineties of the ultimate educational needs, hopes and agenda. He therefore, drew correlation between the reunion’s objectives, aims and aspirations.

In addition HRM Dr (Mrs) Celestina Bose Dirisu also an exstudent of Ikpomaza Grammar School has this to say:

“The importance, relevance and recognition calls to mind the need for the association. She therefore, applauded the ideas, describing it as; “relevant and timely, giving the need to give back to our alma Mater that has given us so much and giving the invitation extended to compliment efforts made in the realisation of a transformation Agenda”

At the end of the three days maiden reunion Association of speeches, excursions to historical places of notes, awards ceremony and launching of endowment funds etc, members noted that challenges confronting their alma mater have assumed the dimensions that provocks comprehensive review and urgent responds awaiting to nip on board for inward developements as government alone can not funds schools.

That Ikpomaza Grammar School, Okpella. Edo State now has hopes in the hands of its old Students Association is not in doubt and to add that this body is now saddled with multi faceted challenges is a truism.
