Random videos have surfaced Social media this Tuesday morning, showing some Okpella women food vendors, protesting for compensation in regard of their stores that were demolished sometime around April this year, along Fertilizer, BUA Cement plant new gate and Okene/Benin Express way by the Edo State Traffic Control and Management Agency (EDSTMA).
The Evacuation of the road side settlements was done by EDSTMA in other to find a lasting solution to the incessant road accident, which are claiming souls on a daily basis.
According to a source, the Protesters are said to be members of the “RED COTTON SOCIETY” whose batchers ( make shift abode) were affected during the joint demolition exercise carried out by
Edo State Government last time to get rid off criminals living there in front of BUA’s area along the Okpella – Okene Expressway and using the area as hide out for their criminal activities, e.g. kidnapping, armed robbery, prostitution and other vices. They are demanding for compensation from BUA, hence the protest.
