Sequel to insecurity threat and kidnapping in Okpella community, the Okpella Progressive Union (OPU) National, has demanded for branded vest for bikes/Okada and Tricycle riders in Okpella.
This letter of request, was issued July 14, 2022 by OPU National body, signed by the national Chairman and Secretary Chief A.K Giwa and Umar Afegbua to the head of Okpella Security committee, High Chief S. Obalo.
In the letter issued, OPU National exposed that, they have observed that, if the activities of Okada riders in Okpella is not properly checked by regulating their operation,may lead to facing challenges that will be counterproductive to the effort of the coordinator of security in Okpella.
OPU also added that, the Security committee in Okpella should constitute agency body that will be approving serial numbers and other security marks that will make a unique to any exiting one.
However, OPU advised Security committee in Okpella that, the security measures should be done with the co-operation of the leadership of the operators if the riders, as they will benefit from the sales and their membership.
